MEET ROGER

With these words, “We can do better,” former Galveston Mayor Roger Quiroga officially filed papers and launched his campaign to become Galveston Mayor in 2020.

As a former three-term Galveston mayor, born and raised on Galveston Island, Quiroga said, “I believe it is important that I enter this race now, because I believe that Galveston needs a change.”

What People Are Saying About Roger

“Quiroga has been a good financial steward. The city is on a much sounder financial footing today than when Quiroga took office six years ago . . . Roger Quiroga could make a hard choice and stick with it in the face of angry opposition. Having the courage to do what’s right, rather than what’s popular is absolutely critical in Galveston.”  Read more…

Do the kids need to be present?

This is the crosswalk used in the 1930’s to get people from one side of the Seawall to the other side of the Seawall without impacting traffic. In my opinion, the two lights around the San Luis area creates traffic jams, confusion and poses potential risk to pedestrians. What do you think about having beautiful crosswalks that will not affect vehicle traffic and will also make it safer to get pedestrians from one side to the other? Grant money is available to make this a reality.

Very on point. The crosswalk is a dangerous hazard and I’ve witnessed many near accidents. 😩 When visitors are looking around at all the fun sites someone is going to get run over walking across the road unless it’s guided by a major intersection.

Better management of the lights at 25th would be great as well. In San Antonio at some intersections, every light will turn Red to allow for pedestrian crossing. That could help immensely during summer months in the mean time.

This would be awesome. Also repairing Broadway road instead of leaving it a mess would be great too! I realize they are repairing drainage systems but they have been finished with large parts of that for many months and the road is still not repaved. Hard on vehicles and is an eye sore. =) Something I noticed that seems to need attention.

What kind of grants are available for something like this?

Such great vision !

Great idea!

Great idea Bo!

Good idea.

Yes!!!

Great idea

Thanks

What do you think about the 2020 property tax?

Grant $ can b put to better use elsewhere. Have Fertitta pay for over walks for his hotel guests.

There was a large, indoor saltwater pool at the Crystal Palace. That crosswalk connected it to the beach.

Huntington Beach has a similar overhead crosswalk
